The major energy companies and installers offer a wide range of discounts on insulation and in some cases heating and energy generation. But the choice is ever shifting, and always bewildering.
One easy route through this confusion is to log on to the Energy Saving Trust (EST) website and their Grants and Discounts Database. All you need do is key in some basic information about your house and family circumstances, and select which option you are interested in - whether it's loft insulation, or cavity wall insulation, or both.
For example, for a three-bedroomed semi-detached house in Stafford, by selecting 'loft and cavity wall insulation' you are greeted with 17 offers ranging from £138 to £398 - nearly a three-fold difference between the cheapest and dearest!
After selecting your preferred offer, you can apply on-line via the EST website, or discuss it on the phone with an EST advisor, or contact the installer direct. Either way there is no commitment at this stage. This is a relatively easy way to navigate your way to a good deal on home energy efficiency measures.
