Michael and Beryl moved house in Stafford and found themselves with a large number of incandescent bulbs of different types that they wanted to change for energy saving bulbs. Marches Energy Agency visited with their innovative Project Carbon, the prototype for our light bulb library. They changed 34 bulbs of nine different types at an average cost of £4.76, including four expensive reflector spots. Beryl said “The light quality from the new bulbs was much better than earlier types I have used and the computer calculated that I will save £1,954 and 7 tonnes of CO2 over the life of the bulbs - I await my next electricity bill with interest.”
As for helping climate change, if 20 million households changed their bulbs then about 100 million tonnes of CO2 would be saved.
